Dr.Clara Gona

Clara Gona, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA. She coordinates and teaches in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Her research focuseson health disparities and issues of equity and inclusion in nursing education. Professor Gona has used her experience as a person from diverse backgrounds to advocate for equity and inclusion on campus. Her work on diversity and inclusion on campus has been adopted to develop several innovative projects to help build a just, equitable and inclusive environment on campus. Her work on inclusion and diversity work has been presented at US national and regional conferences, published in a national journal and she has been invited to speak at the Organization of Nurse Leaders and other venues. Her research-based work on diversity and inclusion has been written up in the school magazine and was awarded a leadership award from the New England Regional Black Nurses Association.
