Brij Chopra

An environmentalist, an experienced Management Professional, Brij Chopra is still full of zen for life in her senior years, always ready to learn new skills.

 

Brij has a degree in Economics & Political Science from Punjab university , SD College ,Shimla and an MBA from XLRI, (Jamshedpur).

 

She also has a Self Realisation Fellowship, a five year study course of ‘Self- Realisation’, offered by SRF, an Organisation founded by Yogananda Parmahansa Study.  (It can be termed as Art & Science of living a useful, peaceful and happy life). This course is aimed at ‘Inner Evolvement’ through relevant knowledge and techniques for practice.

 

*She has over twenty years of work experience in management positions in corporates, both in India and abroad. She also has worked in academia with a Management Institute as a professional editor of a Management Journal.

 

*Brij has been engaged in spiritual pursuits for inner growth and understanding of the subtler dimensions of life. She has translated 3 books:

1.         Meditation & Sadhna;

2.         Rebirth; and

3.         Science of Bhagavad Gita

 

*She believes in social service and has been very active in this area.

Brij has headed many Social Groups as well as Academic Institutions in Honorary positions.

 

*She is the Founder and Trustee of ‘Protsahan Charitable Trust’ (a private Trust founded by her in 1999) to financially support bright and needy students in their pursuit of higher and professional studies, with an aim

i) to improve their family prospects;

ii) to inculcate the spirit of ‘Care & Share’.

 The selected students pledge to

1.         plant trees;

2.         support college education of one unrelated child at least once in their lifetime;  and

3.         donate an amount equivalent to the scholarship received to any social cause close to their heart - at least once in their life.

 

*She has also been involved in many other social - charitable Projects in the areas of Education, Health, Environment and Old- Age support areas.

 

*She has singly, and in association with various environment groups, so far planted 6000 trees.

 

*Learning is a lifelong process is her motto. Keeping this in mind she attended a one week ‘Kathak (a classical Indian Dance form)’ workshop with living Legend, Pt. Birju Maharaj, a few years ago.

 

*She is also multilingual and has learnt Japanese, Arabic, French, in addition to English and Hindi. She can speak Bengali, is now learning Kannada.

 

* Brij has been conferred with many awards:

  • Appreciation Award by an NGO in Chandigarh for supporting Free Kitchens for Migrant labour, during the Covid Crisis
  • ‘Exceptional Woman of Excellence’ Award at the Women Economic Forum in 2018
  • Appreciation Award for Serving on the School Management Board ( the largest Indian School in the middle East) for 3 terms, as Chairman Academic Committee (6 years)
  • Appreciation Award for Serving as Vice President of the School Management Board
  • Appreciation Award for serving  as Chairperson of ‘Ways & Means’ on Board of  American Women’s Group (under the aegis of the US Embassy) in Oman, for 2 Terms
  • Presently Chairperson of ALL Bangalore Environment Care Chapter
