Yasotha Ponnuthurai

Yaso holds BCom and MBA from Curtin University and is currently an elected member of the Canning City Council, in Western Australia. Yaso is native Tamil speaker who seeks to preserve and develop Tamil language and literature. Over many years, Yaso has promoted Indian music and Dance in Perth. She has always been interested in collaborations between Indian and Western artists including combining Carnatic Music with Jazz. As a Local Government Councilor Yaso is very involved with community groups across many cultures and all ages. Yaso believes strongly in supporting the empowerment of women in the community. Yaso is committed to bringing people from different communities together in Australia with an appreciation of different artistic and cultural traditions.
