July 30, 2013; New Delhi: The ALL in association with Tie, New Delhi held an interactive talk, “From Wealth to Will,??? in New Delhi, Today. Dr. Harbeen Arora, Global Chairperson of ALL, said, “We, specially women, need mindset change to move up from small to medium and from medium to large scale business. They need to spend time on issues such as ownership, management, valuation, exit, and illustrating their business approach.??? While speaking at the talk, Ms. Kalpana Jain, Senior Director, Deloitte & Vice Chairperson of Venture Capitalist Association of India, said, “In India, entrepreneurs loathe to take debt even though debt is not a bad option as long as they have capabilities to pay it off.??? She offered valuable advice to women entrepreneurs and said that to attract PE funds; they must focus on in-depth understanding of the business, the sector, their own firms and market competition.

Earlier, Ms. Ranjana Vaish Agarwal, founder of Vaish & Associates, said, “We must take in account main areas where disputes arise over wills. Quite often failure to comply with some basic tenets of a will gives rise to litigations. Drafting of will should be such that contesting becomes minimal.??? She was speaking on the topic, “How to write a will to avoid litigations.??? In her informative talk, she cited several instances of business and royal families, including Reliance, M.P. Biral, and Ranbaxy who went to years-long litigations to resolve dispute in wills. Ms. Agarwal also covered a range of topics on wills including types of wills, what can be bequeathed, important aspects of writing a will, registration of wills and requirement for probate, applicability of Indian Succession Act 1925 and case laws.
