Dr Godec obtained a BSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Chemistry from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and continued her research in the field of development of new antimicrobial agents as a 2012 UNESCO-L’Oréal »For Women in Science« International Fellow at University of Warwick, UK, where she also worked on several industrial collaborations (AstraZeneca, Basilea).
Her scientific work is published in several peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Nature Communications, and she also contributed to popularization of science in Slovenia by covering life science themes for the popular science magazine Gea and by speaking engagements at various events aimed at elementary and high-school students.
After a brief period as a scientist in Lek, a Sandoz company, she completed the Executive MBA studies at IEDC Bled School of Management and joined Lenis farmacevtika, a specialty pharmaceutical wholesaler, as a Business Development Manager in 2015. Here she is responsible for identifying and closing business opportunities while also pursuing her passion for Business Process Optimisation and Digitalization. One of the interesting side projects she is currently spearheading is the development of an antimicrobial stewardship web app that encourages a more rational prescription of antibiotics by doctors.
Dr Godec was named the »2018 AmCham Top Potential of the Year« by the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia.
