Vidya Muralidharan is an HR professional with nearly three decades of experience as an HR practitioner, OD and HR consultant, gained across top corporates in India. She has worked across varied industry sectors, ranging from Engineering to FMCG, consumer durables and Pharma in Manufacturing; and Telecom, IT/ITES, BFSI in the Services sector. In her consulting assignments, she has worked with clients ranging from private family-owned to large, public sector/Government owned organizations.
Her areas of expertise are in Organization Restructuring followed by OD interventions, Change management/organizational renewal, Leadership development – with special focus on women and high achievers, Learning and Development.
Vidya is an ICF certified Life enrichment and leadership effectiveness coach, focusing on career transition (fresh recruits as well as mid-career and senior executives); work life effectiveness, especially for women; and resilience coaching for individuals recovering from health setbacks and other life changing experiences.
Vidya’s current work is focused largely on coaching in the niche areas mentioned, as well as facilitating developmental journeys for mid-senior executives; facilitating leadership development and personal effectiveness programs for women and high potential executives; as also certification programs for HR professionals.
Vidya has a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Technology from Bangalore University, India, an MBA degree from Xavier Institute of Management, India, and an MSc in Organizational Psychology from the University of London.
She has various other certifications, viz., psychometric tools, Basic Lab in Human Processes, Change management, Gallup Q12 and so on. She, however, believes that learning is an ongoing journey, and is working to acquire mastery in various cognitive and healing techniques, as well as positive psychology-based coaching.
In her work, she brings to bear her own life experiences – challenges faced as a woman in realizing her dreams, lessons in resilience learnt from managing family and life’s setbacks, including health challenges like cancer. In her own journey of life, she has found strong anchoring in spiritual practices, viz., reiki and yoga, as also practical and contemporary applications from positive psychology, which she uses as a basis for her work in coaching and facilitation.
One aspect that Vidya is very passionate about is building an inclusive society – the absence of which disturbs her a lot. She has always been sensitive to the lesser-heard voices – the underprivileged, women, differently-abled and the like, and, in her role in HR earlier and as a coach and facilitator now, endeavored to make a difference to individuals from these segments of society, inducting them, encouraging and enabling them to learn and grow. She contributes to organizations working with such individuals, both monetarily, as well as through volunteering time for various activities.
Vidya has lived and worked across India, has also travelled extensively and worked across various cultures and countries. She also has various other interests like music, travel, learning languages, teaching, writing; and strives to live a full life. She has a daughter, studying at UCSD. She currently lives in Bengaluru, India, with her husband Muralidharan who works for the Retail sector.
