My name is Vansh Tibrewal. I am fifteen years old. I am a student of class X of Vibgyor high school, Mumbai. From a young age I had passion for Mathematics & Science. I also loved solving cubes & playing chess. During my summer break after in May 2017 I started volunteering in an NGO called Angel Xpress foundation near my house . I would teach chess & cube solving to the underprivileged kids there every Saturday. I volunteered there for two years. It was during this time I realised when I interacted with the kids that they were curious & eager to learn . The girls especially were not supported much by their families to pursue studies . Their parents encouraged them to learn cooking, sewing & other household work . But they were not encouraged to pursue careers in especially STEM fields. They had the mindset that the stem careers are for boys . This inspired to start my own small initiative called “ STEM BAALA “ . My objective is to foster confidence in girls & spark their curiosity for Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics ( STEM) . I want to encourage the girls to study & pursue careers in stem field. Along with a eight friends, we currently conduct computer classes for twenty underprivileged girls of Angel xpress Foundation Goregaon & twenty five girls of Chandrabagha Vidya mandir .
We also conduct mathematics & science camps , help them prepare for competitive exams. We also help them with stationary & books .
We have recently also started Robotics classes for six girls of Film City high school. They will soon participate in a local robotic competition as a team .
