Values and influential factors that determine success of female leaders: the experience of women in Latvia
The speakers will share the experience of Latvian women especially that can be applied to other countries in Eastern and Central Europe where women from heavily dominated male societies in less than three decades have managed to become leaders in major sectors of the economy by not only dominating the male world but managing to stay beautiful, healthy and keep a work-life-self-development balance in life.
Of recent, Latvia has been in leading positions in the world (Top 3-6) by the number of women in top management positions in business. Also, the government and non-governmental sectors in Latvia start to have more and more women as ministers, chairpersons, board members, etc.
From being a little known country, part of the erstwhile USSR for five decades, to then opening up to the world in the nineties, Latvia underwent a huge transformation in understanding of gender roles and female leadership: the process of change offers learnings for all of us toward a more equal and fulfilled society.
