Sumita Dutta

Ms Sumita Dutta is Executive Director in Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna PSU, heading its Corporate Affairs Division. An MBA in Marketing, she is an alumnus of Loreto, DPS and Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi. She has worked in different positions in the Marketing Division of SAIL, and successfully handled diverse assignments. She has the unique distinction of being the 1st lady ‘Branch Manager’ of Delhi and Bangalore branches, and 1st lady Regional Manager (Operations) of SAIL’s marketing function. She has been bestowed with the Outstanding Employee Award in SAIL.

Though the steel industry is generally a male-dominated one, considering the challenging work environment, Ms Dutta rose to the position of Executive Director braving all such challenges with her positive and result-oriented approach.

In the present industrial environment, particularly in the steel industry which is facing stiff competition domestically as well as internationally, Ms Dutta in her present assignment, in a short period of time, has taken several initiatives to take the company to newer heights with her vast work experience and leadership.

She has been awarded by “Bharat Nirman” as “One of the Most Empowered Women in Industry” and Outlook Award for being the Best Corporate Communicator. She recently won the Chanakya Award 2020 for “Communicator of the year”
