Suman Sood

Suman Sood has been working in the space of Primary and Pre Primary Education for more than 35 years. She started her career as a teacher from a high school in Kolkata in the year 1990 and learnt to be proficient in curriculum development, integration of technology and various other fields collaborating with schools across the world. Former Director of Mongrace Montessori House group of schools, Mrs.Sood is presently director of B.D Memorial School, having 6 branches of pre primary and primary education in Kolkata.
Mrs Sood led schools to be ranked No 1 and amongst Top 5 in pre primary and primary education by prestigious surveys conducted by Education World, Education Today, Brainfeed Gurukul Awards and various others.
As British Council School Ambassador she led Montessori Schools in India for the first time to achieve British Council International School Award.
She has co authored sets of History and Civics books ,published by Pearson. A recipient of Intel National Award and Vidya Mandir Society Award for Best Integration of Technology into education she did an Action Plan Research on how technology can help to develop language of preschool children and got Global Teacher Award for this.
Suman Sood feels greatly honoured to be a recipient of Early Childhood Association Award 2019 for Exemplary Contribution
to Early Childhood Education and AKS Global Teacher Award 2019.
She has been a part of the Learnit delegation that travelled to London in January 2019.
She also visited China in 2019 as part of 4 member Indian Wimen Leaders Team. Has also visited Hong Kong, Dubai and London to understand working of schools there.
Suman started the ECA Kolkata Chapter under mentorship of Dr.Swati Popat Vats and has been instrumental in bringing about a wave of change in the way parents and community had been perceiving early childhood education. She National Core Committee Member of Early Childhood Association
Mrs.Sood is also attached to various NGOS and organizations such as IWN West Bengal, Green Legion, Global Ambassadors, School Principals, Parents World Forum etc. that believe in bringing about change and making the world a better place.
Has organized various Global Exchange Programmes in collaboration with Environment Education Manager , Ms.Tamar Hurwitz of San Francisco SF Environment for increasing cultural and environmental awareness.
Suman has been organizing and continuously participating in webinars and seminars with a purpose of reaching out to the Society during the Covid 19 and Lockdown phase.
While working in a variety of socio economic settings, such as British Council School Ambassador, E Pal Ambassador ,Panelist—Macmillan and Peerless Publishers, Mentor of Early Childhood Association Territories , Past President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan East, District Interact Committee Chairperson and representative of pre school sector in BCC&I Education Committee, she is dedicated and committed to early childhood and primary education!!
