She graduated in 2013 from one of India’s top law schools, NUJS, Kolkata. Her first stint was in the legal team of the Mahindra group in Mumbai. In her early 20s, she founded her venture Lawfarm (www.lawfarm.in) in response to the pressing need for access to quality, transparent and affordable legal services. Lawfarm was acquihired in Feb 2016 by Sugar Ventures Singapore, which she presently runs as India CEO and Director. She also founded the award-winning Bribehackers initiative, which is India’s first anti bribery legal helpline, partnering with the world’s biggest anti-bribery platform. She has advised some of India’s top companies and industrialists on legal issues and handled their legal affairs through her company. Lawfarm, one of India’s fastest growing legal startups was listed by Asian Legal Business as one of the “Hottest Legal Startups” in 2017. It has India’s largest online listing of lawyers. She is currently leading the development of a blockchain based legal solution on the platform. Sreerupa has been featured in list of top 42 millennial changemakers in India Today’s 42nd anniversary issue in Dec 2017. She was also interviewed by BBC World for the global Newsday Service. Apart from this, she has been featured by leading Press such as Fastcompany, The Hindu, Economic Times , The Telegraph, Hindustan Times, The Statesman, DNA, Bar and Bench, Legally India, Nextbigiswhat, Dealstreetasia, Good Business Journal, etc. She has received prestigious recognition for entrepreneurship globally such as – Dell Social Innovation Challenge Popular Choice (Texas), World Justice Project (Washington DC), Westerwelle Foundation Young Founder (Berlin), among others. She has been the youngest speaker at the biggest rule of law conference in the world – World Justice Forum, Hague (2017) and was the youngest India delegate at the International Anti-Corruption Conference at Brasilia (2012). She was a panel speaker in panel discussion on ” Blockchain, AI and future of IOT” in Starup Summit 2018, organised by Ah Ventures in IIFT, New Delhi, and shall be speaking on “Legal Implications of Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies” at the World Blockchain Opportunities Summit, Hyderabad. Sreerupa leads one of the few VC backed startups in India with a woman founder, and the first foreign acquisition in Indian legal-tech. She believes in a mix of for-profit and not-for-profit business models to create maximum social impact. She also serves on the Board of an educational and mentorship initiative, Coachyogi. Sreerupa has previously donned several other hats : Head of Operations (land acquisition) for a major solar park, member of the editorial board for a magazine, investment advisor in a laundry startup, winner of a national level author hunt in her teens, authored a short story in a book edited by Ruskin Bond and written the screenplay for a TV episode which was translated by the celebrity screenwriter Javed Akhtar.
