Sophia Glisch
Co-Founder and Co-CEO, 99point9
Canada
Sophia Glisch is Co-CEO of 99point9, a standardized test prep. company that emphasizes one-on-one attention, unlimited resits, and affordable prices. At the same time, we are building an ads-based, interactive, multilingual, all-discipline, artificially intelligent mentor that will guide people’s learning and working, enhancing formal education and career development. Sophia and two other executives single-handedly grew this business to seven figures; she now shares her
insights concerning targeted marketing, lean entrepreneurship, ideation, and implementation via a range of avenues. Sophia is also an instructor of eight years; she has taught 5,000 students directly, and 18,000+ through her non-profits. She has also contributed to 90+ publications and presentations, been featured in or contributed to four books, advised other Clevel executives, and been an executive or board member at ten other organizations. She has been called a “connector” for the communities she builds (some of which
contain 18,000+ individuals), and a “closer” for the relationships she negotiates (as a consultant, she helps grow executive, sales, and media presence). Through her teaching and executive work, Sophia emphasizes deep immersion and concept naturalization through content simplification, etymology, and critical analysis. She also conveys the value of multi-disciplinarity, uninhibited experiencegaining above one’s level, confidence in the fact that anything is learnable, and deconstruction of traditional education-related stereotypes regarding independent learning and career linearity. She has taught at the primary, secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels, and advised everyone from grade-school students to mature students and professionals looking to transition into a new or previously established career post-immigration. Finally, at heart, Sophia is an academic. She wants to know as much as possible
about the universe’s proximate “how” and ultimate “why”, so she explores fields which contemplate how things and people work (e.g., theoretical physics, pure math, comparative religion, life science, philosophy, and literary criticism), and engages in
primary research and research consulting. Her work has been featured on TEDx, international TV, and in several national and international papers. In a more applied sense, she loves the satisfaction associated with deconstructing and interpreting
words and numbers to yield elegant solutions; this is why she has studied 20 human languages, programmed, scored in the 99th percentile on standardized test qualifiers, landed a Jeopardy! audition, and interacted with management consulting, law, and policy.
