Sonia grew up in the capital of India – New Delhi. A second-generation educationist inspired by her own teachers to take the training. She graduated in 1993 from the University of Delhi with a major in science and a basic degree in education in 1995 soon after finishing her schooling in a convent and taught by the Irish nuns themselves. She began her humble career as a Middle School
Teacher of mathematics and science in of the premiere schools of New Delhi where she made her way up to be a Housemistress and continued teaching high school for more than two decades. Meanwhile, she resumed her higher education and today stands tall with a master’s and a master’s in philosophy in mathematics while managing all the chores of a family with 2 small boys then!!
After a short stint in a small town in Maharashtra, India, and stepping up her game as an administrator at the best schools there, she moved to New Delhi to explore more.
Her last position as a Head of the School in Gurgaon was at the heels of not only turning her into an Edupreneur but also upskilling her.
• In 2022 she is bestowed with the title of ‘Prime Ambassador’ by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, India.
• This year, she is also conferred with ‘Global Education Influencer’ by Education Influence (an Australian firm).
• She is a part of ICERT – International Council of Education Research.
• She is giving back to the community by being an active member of Stree Shakti- a Delhi-based NGO involved in welfare and schemes benefitting women.
• She holds a Certificate in Senior Leadership Program (2019) Bassett Education India
• Jointly won the National Human Resource Optimization Award at the 33rd World Management Congress (2012)
Her quest for growing and learning is simply never-ending – A Global Career Counsellor from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Certificate holder from Harvard Business School of Education on ‘Leading Schools’ speak volumes.
