With over 20 years of experience, Soma Kohli is a well-recognized expert in path-breaking technology initiatives. Soma joined Unisys in May 2016, and heads the core ClearPath products for the OS2200 stream. She leads a team of systems professionals, who follow her passion for high performance computing and systems focused technologies. She actively contributes to a number of technology focus groups at Unisys. Soma has a knack for innovation with more than 3 patents awarded and in process. More importantly, she is known for inspiring a culture of innovation in leading ‘high performing’ teams.
Soma’s primary interest areas are IOT and Machine Learning. She is also a subject matter expert on parallelization technologies and multicore. She has herself extended her server level experience and has worked on the Dalvik Virtual Machine, which is the Android JVM, optimizing it for Samsung phones.
In the past she has made significant contribution in Research and Development roles in the best global technology teams, in companies like Hewlett Packard and Infineon, owning front line portfolio of technology products that led to commercial significance. Her interest and pursuit of Internet of Things technology has won her a significant patent in the domain – with the resulting Proof of Concept taken up for developing products at Samsung Korea. She led the India research lab for the Samsung Graphics Process Unit and was part of the core research authority that won numerous awards for research in reconfigurable processor software.
Soma holds a Master of Engineering in Computer Science from Jadavpur University and has also done a management course from IIM Bangalore. Soma has also delved into entrepreneurship with the new and upcoming field of LAMP stacks, to build a social networking platform for social causes.
