Shivani Wazir Pasrich – India

Shivani Wazir Pasrich a versatile Economics Honours & Law graduate, an Actress and Odissi dancer, is actively involved with social concerns. She has been working for the cause of safe motherhood with the White Ribbon Alliance. She is a member of the Executive Committee for the Delhi Society for the Welfare of Special Children and is a member of the governing body of Ekatwam- Together for Epilepsy. In 2009, Shivani was awarded ‘Pride of the Nation’ and in 2013 she received the Universal Humanity Award. She was also the recipient of the India Foundation award for excellence in her field and the Women Achievers recognition from TIE. She is currently on the advisory board of CII- Government of India, Media and Entertainment market 2016.
Shivani launched her production house Shivani Wazir Pasrich Productions (SWP Productions) to raise awareness on issues that plague society. Her play, “Draupadi – Will my spirit move on?” addressed the issues related to women’s empowerment and funds raised were used for the Breast Cancer Patients Benefit Foundation.

Her conservation project, “I am the Tiger” enjoys multiple initiatives having travelled extensively to spread awareness about conservation through performance, art and sport. Shivani has also made a film, “Girls are Gold” which speaks about eradicating discrimination against the girl child in our society. There are several hats that Shivani has donned over the years, all reflecting her creative and vibrant versatility, that enjoy an underlying positive tenor.

Shivani ran with Milkha Singh for the Terry Fox run, flagged off at the Canadian High Commission and was part of the Pink Chain Campaign to spread awareness and offer prevention tips on cancer.

A mother, sister, daughter, wife and an avid golfer, horse rider, swimmer and globe trotter, Shivani won the coveted Miss India World Wide title in 1992.
She has a vibrant persona as a compere. She works on live quiz shows, company launches, special government events, music album releases, beauty pageants and fashion shows. She compered the launch of the former Prime Minister’s poetry album, ‘Samvedna’.

She has acted in a number of television serials like ‘Mumkin’, ‘Muthi Bhar Sitaree’, ‘Sigma’, ‘Batooni’, ‘Kashmakash’, a telefilm called ‘Hame Jahan Pyar Mile’ as well as Yash Chopra’s National award winning film ,’Dil To Pagal Hai’.

Her interest in dance, theatre and choreography led her to a diverse career, where she also produced and directed documentaries on the Girl Child, Education and Dance. Shivani was engaged as a Consultant by the Hon’ble Speaker to help launch Lok Sabha (Parliament of India) TV channel. She has anchored various television programmes traversing over a wide spectrum of subjects including : Travel (Namaste India), Beauty, Fashion and Fitness (Khoobsurat.), Bollywood (Taj Mahal Takita Dhin and Hit Thi Hit Hai), Culture (Kala Parikrama), Computers (Boot It), Breakfast shows (Morning Zee and Good Morning Metro), Talk Shows (Cool Talk Café and Zindagi) also Proceedings of Parliament (Sansadnama).

She has acted in musicals, like ‘Annie and West Side Story’, in serious plays, like ‘The Maids’, ‘The See Saw’ and ‘Kamana’ and in comedies like ‘The Dear Departed’, ‘Black Comedy’ and ‘Who Done It’, besides three of Mahesh Dattani’s plays, ‘Dance Like a Man’, ‘Where There’s a Will’ and ‘Bravely Fought The Queen’. Her play entitled ‘Larki Seedhi Rahegi’ was performed at the NSD theatre festival in Bangalore and was a part of Lady Shri Ram college’s 50 year celebration.
