Running a successful digital agency firm since the last 4 years, being a TEDx speaker and a contributor to numerous entrepreneurial websites across the web, Sherina Kapany’s journey at sunSTRATEGIC was a result of feeling deprived of a platform. While women sought for social media to speak their hearts out, she was vying to build a new empire of her own for men and women alike. She started sunSTRATEGIC as an HR Consultancy and within 4 years it has not only become a successful digital marketing agency but has also entered the e-commerce market with an American sock & accessories brand.
After working with multinational companies like Levis, Sony, Warner Bros., Adecco Group to name a few, Sherina garnered experience along with flexibility as she managed operations from locations such as the US, Europe and Australia for about 14 years. After years of experience in witnessing how content can be diversified, she decided to start her own entrepreneurial venture in India. She noticed a clear paradigm shift in the industry, but there were no guidelines to plan and strategize for these new media types.
Sherina’s ability to not only meet but create new benchmarks for an organization as well as the business operational areas has brought her international recognition. As Big 4 alum, Sherina previously consulted top-tier clients in North America, ANZ and select EMEA regions.
The road to success wasn’t easy for the Mumbai-based entrepreneur who has experienced corporate discrimination and biasness across the globe. Her corporate abilities being a female were doubted with statement such as ‘She won’t be able to bring much to the table,’ which in turn motivated her to create a platform for all the women and men who have been deprived of an opportunity to showcase their flair.
Sherina Kapany supported her entrepreneurial dream and launched over 80 careers in India. Her contribution to her country is that within 35 years, she has created 45 job opportunities and is planning to create 150 job opportunities by the Q1 FY 2019 through the launch of an app. Having setting foot in UAE and USA, Sherina has created 5 jobs in UAE and 10 jobs in the USA through sunSTRATEGIC.
While contributing towards the youth of the nation, she has created a line of student training through sunSTRATEGIC wherein every year she provides in-depth entrepreneurship training to 40 students at least. No other agency goes #AgainstTheStereoTypicalLadder and allows interns to closely and vigilantly view the ups and downs of entrepreneurship by shadowing the founder.
Under the banner of sunSTRATEGIC, Sherina saved women from becoming harassment targets and trained them to become successful employable individuals. Till date, sunSTRATEGIC has saved over 40 domestic abuse female victims and gainfully employed them through sunSTRATEGIC or their clients.
Through Sherina’s efforts, a small unknown NGO has now generated over 30,000 USD in funding through a simple social media campaign and a website created by sunSTRATEGIC – all pro bono. That has saved over 300 children of prostitutes/women in flesh trade from getting into prostitution.
She distributes blankets to the Asha Pura Trust, a school for the underprivileged street kids. sunSTRATEGIC also created a ‘Fun Book’ which included puzzles, comics, stories and drawings for the kids.
She pledged to donate to organizations providing supplies and support to make sure different parts of our country to get relief.
Along with Indian Women Blog, Sherina also inspired a 17 year old girl from Vimukti Sanstha, a school for the girls in the rural area of Jaipur on the matter of financial stability and how she can start working towards it from an early age.
