Shahinaz Ahmed has over 26 years of experience in education focusing on international education development, educational management, workforce development, and instructional systems design. Ms. Ahmed has been the Country Director for AMIDEAST’s field operation in Egypt since 2013. Leading AMIDEAST’s largest as well as its oldest field operation, with offices in Cairo and Alexandria. Under her leadership, AMIDEAST/Egypt, continues its commitment to meeting Egypt’s growing need for educational and training opportunities, especially for youth, women, and less advantaged groups.

She established the Education for Employment Foundation (EFE) in Egypt and served as its CEO for seven years, overseeing the design and implementation of EFE’s employment-driven educational programs for unemployed youth while creating strong linkages with the private sector ensuring over 80% employment of graduates. Previously, Ms. Ahmed served as an independent educational planning and training consultant, advising clients including Citibank, UNICEF, and the Egyptian Tourism Federation among others. She has held positions with the American University in Cairo, the Fulbright Commission, and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.

Ms. Ahmed has a Master of Arts in Education and International Development from University College London, Institute of Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the American University in Cairo. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Alexandria University.
