SJ is a British national presently living in Cape Town, South Africa having lived in Southern Africa since 1986, including South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia since 1986.
SJ has devoted most of her adult life to the tourism industry of Southern Africa whilst having traversed most of Africa in pursuit of her passion, that of a Social and Environmental Entrepreneur. She graduated from Exeter University England with a BA Hons in Social Administration and Social Policy.
She has accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge in the specialist tourism arena.

SJ has travelled extensively across the continent of Africa, and early in her career was a fundraiser and quartermaster of the ‘Young Europe Africa’ overland expedition. This entailed a 9-month overland journey from the UK, across Africa culminating in Cape Town, South Africa doing projects with World Wildlife Fund and The Red Cross.

It was in 1989 that SJ founded and operated one of the first horse safari operations, Equus Trails operation in the Songimvelo Reserve, South Africa. In 1994 she was the founding partner and manager of the internationally renowned African Horseback Safari based in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. In 2010, she partnered with the newly branded Namibia Horse Safari Company and successfully built this operation into an internationally known and respected safari venture.

SJ is highly proficient in the operational and business development spheres, as well as amassing a wide range of invaluable experience in the marketing of Southern Africa in the global tourism market. She has been active in this domain via the marketing operations of SA Tourism Indaba, The World Travel Market and similar operations throughout the USA, Middle East and Australia.

SJ’s background in tourism and in particular pioneering specialised equestrian safaris through the founding of three companies, has given her substantial experience in all aspects of tourism. In particular negotiating with private and governmental agencies with regards to land use, leases and sustainable community projects. She has developed a reputation and an efficient skill set for on-the-ground job training across various operations.

SJ has constantly been drawn, not only to the continent of Africa but also to the social entrepreneurial projects that have emanated in Africa, hence her involvement in the WWF and Red Cross projects in all corners of the African continent.

Now as a prolific entrepreneur of the renowned Wonderbag project, Sarah Jane Gullick has partnered with the Wonderbag founder, Sarah Collins, in the Wonderbag Foundation to assist, with the Red Cross organisation, in the refugee camps of Rwanda and Uganda.
Their role was the distribution of these humanitarian bags into these camps, home to millions of refugees.
Moving forward into the future, SJ’s role in the Wonderbag Foundation is to continue its ideals, those of improving the lives of Africa’s impoverished people, and helping to make relevant change to the people and women of Africa.

SJ is an asset to the continent of Africa. We as a nation are privileged to have an individual who continues to give back, unselfishly and unreservedly, to this part of the globe. Her future lies in Africa. As does Africa’s future lie with the likes of SJ.
