Sahana Ahmed is a poet and novelist based in Gurugram, India. She is the author of Combat Skirts (Juggernaut Books, 2018), a coming-of-age story set in Calcutta against the backdrop of the Kargil War. Her short stories and poems have been published in leading international literary magazines and anthologies in India, the UK, and the USA, among other countries.
A graduate of Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata, Sahana holds a master’s degree in Tourism Management. In July 2021, she founded the Rural Tourism Council for WICCI (Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) as its first National President. She utilised the platform to launch Green Buddies, a countrywide Responsible Tourism campaign for school children. At present, she is the India Country Chair for the World Peace Wing of G100 Club.
Sahana has been helping shine a light on remarkable women through her work as Category Lead for SheInspires Awards 2022 and the West Bengal Coordinator for RBTC (Rising Beyond the Ceiling), an initiative to highlight the achievements of Indian Muslim women. In March 2022, she joined SheLeads Academy as the Global Lead for their Leaders Library.
Sahana has worked with leading universities and corporations in India as an English Language, Soft Skills and Creative Writing trainer. She was recognised among 99 Achievers of India for the year 2021 by The Indian Achiever’s Club.
