• 1974-1975:Lecturer in Economics, Holy Cross College Trichy, Tamil Nadu
• 1976-2009: Indian Foreign Service, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi
• I worked in different capacities at HQs in the Ministry of External Affairs, Delhi and served in several Missions abroad like Brussels, Manila, Kathmandu and London. I was head of post/Consul General in Istanbul and Head of Mission in Armenia and Georgia.
• I have been a part of several delegations to many countries for purposes of business and trade expositions.
• I was on deputation for almost four years to the Prime Minister’s residential office in 7, Race Course Road from 1996 to 1999 and served under three Prime Ministers- Mr. H. D. Deve Gowda, Mr. I. K. Gujral and Mr. A. B. Vajpayee.
• I retired with the rank of Ambassador in June, 2009.
• April 2010- September 2010:After retirement I was Consultant for FICCI for an India – Central Asia project in Istanbul.
• November 2010 – 2014: I was Consultant for Eurasia with Ministry of External Affairs. Part of the consultancy included developing trade routes from India to Central Asia, South Caucasus; coordination with trade bodies and think tanks dealing with Central Asia and Russia.
