Ms Rajini Rekha is the Executive Director of Reves Art Gallery in Bengaluru..She graduated from NIFT in the rigorous study of Garment Manufacturing Technology and went on to work with Tommy Hilfiger, a multinational company, where her years of experience in developing a primary idea or concept through the artistic process of experimentation, refinement, critique, and presentation, ultimately led her to realizing her dream of opening an art gallery. She gave up her previously held lucrative career as she believed strongly in the adage “Art can help us become better people”.Her rolein Reves is crucial, besides an effervescent artist, Rajini has curated many meaningfull and conceptualized art shows. One which is ongoing is a very new concept amid COVID times –A virtual Art Camp ‘Prolonged Solitude’Rajni recognizesthe significance of an artist in shaping cultural experiences through creative thought and action. Her keen visual literacy allows her to understand key debates within the discipline of modern art practice. She compares and contrasts contemporary works with their art historical antecedents and combines theoretical and contextual inquiry with creative practice to build critical relevance. As a gallerist, Rajni works to provide services that are in the forefront of the scene, such as exhibitions. But she also undertakes many activities behind the scenes, which could be everything, from financial management or book publishing, in order to help new artists focus more fully on their work.She enthusiastically engages in organizing art camps, workshops and takes part in global artevents and art fairs. ‘Khakhi Chronicles’is one of her curations well received by the public and Karnataka State Reserve Police for bringing the creative dimension of the cops to the forefront. Having resided in the garden city of Bengaluru for over 17 years, Rajni gives back to the city she calls home by fostering and supporting a dedicated and inspired ommitment to Indian Art and appreciation.
