Dr. R. Madhuri Menon
Dean at the Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health (BALM)
Madhuri is currently the Dean at the Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health (BALM) the research and documentation arm of the Banyan. BALM is a collaboration between the Banyan, Chennai, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, an eighty year old institution in the field of human services, and the Vrieje University, Amsterdam. BALM offers 3 Masters programs, one in Social Work, and two in Applied Psychology.
Madhuri holds an M A in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Urban & Regional Planning, from the School of Planning, Ahmedabad. She has been in the field of human resources for more than four decades in both the public and private sectors, covering corporates in the manufacturing and service industry, in a range of businesses from oil to telecom and not-for-profit sectors. She has managed her own consulting services in the people management space for more than twenty years. She is a certified Executive and Business Coach.
She has been actively associated with the not-for-profit sector over the last two decades. She is on the Board of Trustees as well as advises various NGOs that work in the areas of women and children, education, livelihoods and rural development, and access to finance in rural India. She has been involved with academics and research, and has presented papers at various national and international fora. She has been a visiting faculty at B-Schools in Chennai and Coimbatore, and a facilitator for workshops and training programs.
