Priya Menon is the Founder Director of Sankalp Creative Ventures Pvt. Ltd., which works primarily towards creating and promoting Kerala handlooms. A resident of Palakkad in Kerala, she founded Sankalp Creative Ventures in 2009, which started off essentially by offering a platform for aspiring women entrepreneurs, traditional artisans and handcrafters to further their economic prospects and empower themselves financially. Through exhibitions held all over Kerala under the name, ‘Crafts’n Weaves’, Sankalp has been successful in giving a head start to more than 800 women across the State, many of who have utilized the opportunity to move on as successful entrepreneurs.
Priya also founded the The Sankalp Store in 2019, which is essentially an online shopping space for curated quality lifestyle products. The Sankalp Store currently sells through Whatsapp groups and its Instagram page in the same name.
Sankalp Creative Ventures Pvt. Ltd was incorporated in March 2021, and has been actively involved in uplifting the handloom sector of Kerala by creating contemporary designs in Handloom garments under the brand, ‘Weaves by Sankalp’. The company currently has a loom for sampling purposes in their premises, and enlists the services of other weaving clusters in Kerala to get their designs woven into garments like Sarees, Dupattas, Salwar sets, Stoles, etc.
Sankalp also has its own readymade manufacturing unit which creates Indian and Indo-western garments not just in handwoven cotton material, but other sustainable fabrics like linen, handcrafted cotton, etc.
Priya Menon is the recipient of the Red Shakti Awards conferred by Superhits 93.5 Red FM in 2017 , Achievement Award 2020 by E Unnathi in 2019 and also a few other awards by various prominent organisations for her work in the field of women empowerment. She is also the Managing Partner of her family based industry in Palakkad, ‘V A M Manufacturing Concerns’, which manufactures Welding Electrodes.
