Nikaytaa is a globally acclaimed Saree Researcher and Founder at The Indian Draping Company. She researches the fluid nature of the Saree, textiles and drapes. Her research is at the interconnection of fashion, feminism, politics, and art. Nikaytaa shares her knowledge through public talks, workshops, and online content. Nikaytaa has recently published a book, The Fluid Saree Zine. It is a firstof- its-kind book that features five different Saree drapes for various occasions. These include Taneira (a Tata product), Liva (an Aditya Birla product), Shailesh Singhania, SixYardsPlus, Timri and PeopleTree to name a few. Nikaytaa collaborates with artists on installations of public interest. The art installation ‘The Saree Dress Tent’ is her most recent art collaboration. The
installation was commissioned by the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. It highlighted the role of the Saree as a political identity for South Asian women living and working in the United States.
Nikaytaa has been invited by several educational institutions and festivals to lecture about gender and fashion. The list includes but is not limited to San Jose State University, Hill Hacks, Lakme Fashion Week, BhimThadi Jatra, Social Conscious festival, Windy City Saree Festival (Chicago) and SareeSpeak.
