Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. Nav Sanghera is a public affairs professional and passionate advocate for the participation and empowerment of women, youth and racialized communities in public decision-making. Currently Nav works leading strategic projects in External Relations at Simon Fraser University (SFU), where she has been campaigning for a reliable rapid transit connection to the university for students and staff in her city. She also serves as a member of TransLink’s Transport2050 Youth Advisory, consulting young people on Metro Vancouver’s regional transportation strategy and SFU’s Sustainable Mobility Advisory Committee.

Previously, Nav served as political staff for her local Member of Parliament and assisted the work of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa. She continues to be politically active, serving as policy chair on the Executive Board of the Liberal Party of Canada in B.C. where she supports and connect with members on policy development and engagement. Through these roles Nav has worked with all levels of government to collaborate with stakeholders, research and evaluate public policies and engage with the public to build resilient communities and more responsive governments.

Nav holds a Bachelor of Arts with a Double Major in Political Science and History from the University of British Columbia, and a Master’s Degree in Research in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick.
