Art Consultant & Writer
Nalini Malaviya is a Bangalore based art consultant, curator, writer and blogger. She has been writing for the media since 2003, and has been an art columnist for Financial Times (Delhi and Bangalore) and Bangalore Mirror. Nalini writes primarily on art (visual arts, performance, photography, etc) but has also written on health and lifestyle. She has contributed to corporate blogs (Asian Paints and Pidilite) on interiors and lifestyle.
She is currently curating (from conceptualization to installation of art) a corporate art collection for a multinational, a solo exhibition by a sculptor for a leading gallery in Bangalore and is the creative advisor for select artists.
She has curated several solo and group exhibitions for art galleries and has published papers for the Karnataka Lalithkala Academy Journal. Some of her prefatory essays for art catalogues have been for artists Shibu Arakkal, Yusuf Arakkal, Gurudas Shenoy, Milind Nayak, Shraddha Rathi, Kalyan Rathore and Suresh K Nair among others. She was on the Jury for the Lalit Kala Akademi National Exhibition 2017.
An occasional fiction writer, Nalini has published short stories as part of various anthologies, The Shrinking Woman, The Curse of the Bird and Bhelpuri. She publishes www.artsceneindia.com, a popular blog cum Ezine featuring art news, events and articles. She conducts classes on art appreciation and writing. Nalini also teaches arts management and marketing for artists through workshops.
