Melissa Curtis-Smith, a native of Colon, Panama, is a proud wife and loving mother to five adult children. Currently residing in Marietta, GA, Melissa has worked tirelessly as a daycare owner for more than twenty-eight years. As a mother of an adult son with a disability, her mission has been to advocate, educate and enrich families with services that allow their loved ones to reach their fullest potential. As a result, her daycare specializes in the well-being of all children, primarily servicing children with disabilities. As a well-established entrepreneur, Curtis-Smith has earned her degree in Early Childhood Education and has spent more than thirty years running multiple businesses. Curtis-Smith’s accomplishments and credentials include Food Inspector Specialist License in all of the 50 United States, Specialist in Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and licensure in the State of Georgia to operate a daycare. In her time of operation, Melissa has had stellar inspection reports with Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. Outside of her day-to-day business, Melissa’s selfless acts of kindness and her many philanthropic works are what truly makes her an iconic, exceptional, humble and exemplary woman of excellence. Her number of community service and advocacy works, include but are not limited to annually making children’s Easter baskets, providing clothing and monetary donations, as well as supporting Black and Brown girls in their educational endeavors by fundraising and providing scholarships. In the future, Curtis-Smith aspires to use her specialist credentials to become a Child and Adult Food Sponsor (CAAFS) in a quest to provide nutritious meals to our community’s child and senior care facilities and to continue her philanthropic works throughout her community.
