Mayor Anabela Freitas

Anabela Gaspar de Freitas is the first woman to be Mayor of Tomar, Portugal. Born and educated in Tomar, she was for several years also a national champion in Badminton. She is passionate about motor sports, theater, music and orchestra. She was President of the General Assembly of the noted Sporting Club of Tomar. Between 2005 and 2009, she also held the position of Director of the Tomar Employment Center. She was also the representative of the Parliamentary group of the 18th Congress of the Organization International Labor Organization (ILO) and was coordinator of the Working Group of the Protected Employment (in area of disability)
