Marija Kavkler

Marija Kavkler, Ph.D. is an associate professor of special and rehabilitation education, working as an external associate at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 2015 she received the National Award for Lifetime Achievements in Higher Education. Her field of research is related to inclusive education for children and adolescents with special needs, especially those with general and specific learning difficulties. She has been involved in a number of national and international projects addressing low achievement of children and adolescents. She has participated in the preparation of key documents in the field of special education in Slovenia. Her knowledge and experience are transferred to students, academic professionals and parents in various forms of training. She has published numerous publications in the field of inclusive education for children and adolescents with specific learning disabilities. By combining theoretical knowledge and practical experience she strives for inclusive education of a diverse population of children and adolescents. As a volunteer she helps teach children with specific learning disabilities for the second year. Reducing their learning difficulties and distress is her particular pleasure.
