Maria Marchyshyn served as Vice-President of Finance at the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-Toronto) for six years and is currently an Advisor to the Board of Directors. OWIT is a non-profit, professional organization that supports the advancement of women in international trade and business by providing networking and educational opportunities. The OWIT network currently includes over 2000 members located in chapters around the world. Maria is an advocate for women empowerment through opening opportunities in international trade. Maria brings with her extensive experience in the area of trade policy and trade agreements. Her current work with the G7 and G20 Research Groups, based at the University of Toronto, involves analyzing issues discussed at the G7 and G20 summits, with her particular focus being on international trade and the EU. Maria had an opportunity to attend two G7 summits, one in Brussels, Belgium in 2014 and one in Ise-Shima, Japan in 2016.Previously, while working with the European Union Centre of Excellence at York University she widely researched and analyzed the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).Her specialization on Europe stems from her earlier work with theEuropean Parliament in Brussels, with the Committee on International Trade. While there, Maria worked on EU’s possible FTA with the ASEAN region as well as Ukraine. She is currently involved with the UN Association of Canada as well as Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.Maria started her career in the financial field -as a financial reporting officer with a bank. She completed an International Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University, specializing in international business and finance.She speaks five languages: English, French, Spanish, Ukrainian and Russian and took classes of Japanese and Arabic.
