Maria Luísa Oliveira was born in 1962. Holds a Master in Educational Sciences, a degree in Geography and Regional Planning, a specialization course in School Management and an Advanced Course in Public Management.

She started working as a teacher of Geography in 1986, and has held different administrative and managerial positions in several schools and other institutions.

From 1997 to 1999 she has been Trainee Counselor for Professional Qualification for Teaching at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (FCSH) of the New University of Lisbon (UNL) and Coordinator of a Centre of OIKOS – Cooperation and Development until 2012.

She is accredited as trainer by the Scientific and Pedagogic Council for Continual Training in the areas of School Management, Design and Organization of Educational Projects, and Educational Innovation.

From 2005 to 2012 she has served as School Principal, President of the Pedagogic Council and of the Administrative Council.
She was part of the Scientific Council for the Teachers Evaluation Program from 2008 to 2012 and she was invited to serve as director of the project “Schools of the Future — Good Management Practices”, from the Businessmen for Social Inclusion Association from 2009 and 2013.

She was Director-General for School Administration in the Ministry of Education, since october 2014 until march 2018. Currently she is Coordinator of Project Management of Intermunicipal Strategic Plan for the Development of Education in the Middle Tagus (PEDIME), in the Intermediate Municipality of the Middle Tagus, since may 2018
