Marcia began her professional career over 10 years ago working as a Participation Worker for a national NGO now known as the Young Women’s Trust in the United Kingdom. She worked in the most deprived areas delivering sexual health and drug awareness programmes, supported young teenage mothers and ran a community talk radio show. Marcia has extensive experience in youth engagement strategies and programmes.
Marcia moved to Geneva , Switzerland in 2011 to embark on a communications and advocacy position with an international Women’s Rights NGO – the World YWCA. She participated in the United Nations conventions, global advocacy platforms and regional meetings to diligently demand, claim and ensure that the new development agenda be inclusive of the voices of the world’s young women, among those most vulnerable to poverty, hunger, conflict, occupation and poor health outcomes.
In 2016, she co-founder “One Love Soul”, a global humanitarian project utilizing music, dance, sport and creative expression to promote human rights and well-being for refugees, asylum seekers and those most marginalised. She successfully launched the social media campaign “Where are all the girls?” – documenting the exclusion of girls in social spaces and decision making.
She is particularly successful with building and advising advocacy strategies, developing campaigns, capacity building, research and policy analysis, and building relationships and partnerships with governmental agencies and NGOs.
