Dr Leela Manjooran is a retired Professor of Political Science from a reputed college affiliated to M.G.University,Kerala. She is an environmental enthusiast working to fight the plastic menace on earth.Cotton cloth bags are her alternative to plastic carry bags, the biggest menace to our earth.Under the brand name LEAF ( Ladies empowerment and awareness for Future), she now manufactures cotton bags for all purposes.For her it is a twin project as she gets the bags stitched by members of Kudumbasree( A government sponsored organization for the economically weaker women).This ensures a means of living for those women who also helps in reducing the plastic threat.Her social commitment took a stronger turn during the 2018 Floods that hit Kerala.Along with a friend,she spotted a flood victim in dire needs.Shibu,an artist by birth and a painter by profession had lost everything.With all construction and maintenance work suspended in the state,the only thing he could do was paint on clothl!.The Two of them bought him sarees (mostly Handloom )and got him to paint on them .Orders poured in to help the flood victim and he is back on rails They continue to help him by providing rfabric.Prof Leela is also into Hospitality business.Her passion for cooking and meeting people makes her a Hostess to foreign tourists.They come to her home to have a Meal,experience cooking lessons and an interesting interaction.she runs a Home with her husband and a son.And makes her retired life meaningful and fruitful
