Kathleen O’Hara, MA LPC is an international psychotherapist with over 26 years of providing exceptional, bespoke care and strategic solutions for families and individuals facing the complex challenges of the 21st century. This includes communication, relational, addiction, depression, anxiety and self-development issues. She also works with the Next Gen, particularly young women and their roles within family businesses, identity development, leadership and self-esteem. She works with families all over the globe with a high level of cultural competency as well as a multi-disciplinary approach and can provide expert referrals within the medical, educational, legal, business and family office communities.
She is the author of A Grief Like No Other, a classic resource for traumatic bereavement, also translated into Korean. She is a consultant for the Federal Office for Victims of Crime within the US Department of Justice and has contributed to policy, program and training development for organizations serving victims of crime in the US, Europe, the UK, Asia and Russia.
In 2016, she coordinated a training and awareness raising campaign with the first female mayor of Belikduzu, a province in Istanbul, Turkey on the issue of Domestic Violence and how to improve services, programs and treatment.
She was a speaker at the United Nations in New York for the Inaugural International Day for Women and Girls in Science in 2016 and 2017. Her topics were The Global Mental Health of Women and Girls in 2016 and Media Stereotypes of Women and Girls in Science in 2017. She has a keen interest in helping girls overcome the barriers they face in the STEM sciences globally.
In addition to her private practice, she and her colleague, Dr. Paul Hokemeyer founded Drayson Mews, which provides expert mental health services to families and individuals of wealth with global offices in London, Los Angeles and New York.
