Kamala Thiagarajan

Kamala Thiagarajan is a freelance journalist who has been reporting on science,health, human rights, development, current events and gender issues since 1998.
She contributes to news outlets all over the world, and her work has been published in The Atlantic, New York Times, National Public Radio (NPR news) in the US, The BBC and the Guardian (UK), Al Jazeera (Middle East), The Diplomat (Australia), South China Morning Post (Hong Kong and China), The Reader’s Digest, National Geographic and many others.
Her gender reporting has focused on topics such as dealing with gender violence, menstrual hygiene, discrimination and examining government policies that can better the lives of women. In her reporting, she has sought to bring out the hidden voices of Indian women waging everyday battles against crushing patriarchal power structures.
