Joyee Mahanta

Co-founder , O’ Tenga

India

Joyee is the co-founder of O’ Tenga, the first (and so far only) authentic Assamese food delivery kitchen in Mumbai. She and her partner Priyangi Borthakur started this labour of love in May 2017 to promote this northeastern cuisine in Maharashtra’s capital.
What started as a passion has culminated into a food business, fueled by technology. They opened doors with their first pop-up in April 2017, to celebrate Bohag Bihu in Mumbai. Then, they launched their delivery services a month later, serving homemade Assamese goodness to the cosmopolitan populace of Mumbai; and there has been no looking back since. O’ Tenga’s journey has been featured in local publications/websites like The Bombay Times, Mumbai Mirror, Mid-day and the Little Black Book, among others.
Joyee moved to Mumbai in 2005 to pursue her graduation from Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics and then her MBA in HR. She has worked with a recruitment firm and then with a pharmaceutical multinational corporation, specializing in Organisational Development & Learning. Together with her partner, Joyee hopes to further popularise her indigenous cuisine among food lovers.
