Jori Alkemade

Program Manager Municipality, Municipality of Haarlem

Netherlands

My name is Jori Alkemade, a young cultural and social anthropologist.

At the moment, I work as a program manager for the municipality of Haarlem, the Netherlands. We work on high impact projects that focus on large transitions within local government which influence our citizens. As a program manager, my focus and expertise lies within social welfare and child/youth care. Before my work as a program manager I was a policy advisor for the department of social services. One of topics that was under my supervision was the empowerment of women with low income and a fairly low economical status within the municipality. That is also where my interest was sparked concerning this WEF event.
Besides my formal job, I am also a small business owner. Me and co-founder, founded a brand which specializes in hand-made and fairly traded leather goods from Morocco.
