Joan Dellavalle is the CEO and the creative mind behind Ebony & Ivory Hair and Beauty Salon. DellaValle travelled from Zambia to Perth in 2001 to purse her dreams in Australia , with almost nothing putting herself through collage to build a career and life in Australia. As hairstylist and mentor Dellavalle usesher work as a force for good by providing free and paid life skills workshops for young girls and ladies aged between 7 and 25 years from diverse backgrounds. She also gives back to the community by doing makeovers for people with some of the most inspiring stories.

In 2003 DellaValle, opened Ebony & Ivory in Fremantle while undertaking her hairdressing apprenticeship and managing a team of stylists. As her business continued to grow, Joan moved the salon to its current location in Perth CBD. Her passion for consistent excellence and outstanding customer service in the Hair & Beauty world while empowering women and girls helped her win the prestigious Belmont Small Business Woman Award of the Year 2011.

Joan is a motivational woman who continues to travel the world to learn and to be inspired by the latest methods the industry has to offer by the best in the industry. Her travels also inspired her to not forget where she came from. Dellavalle lost her Father to AIDS in the early 90s which meant she had to find ways to navigate through life at a very young age. She uses the strength she learnt from a young age to run her business and while helping others to find their purpose and be survivors. Dellavalle is a massive advocate for AIDS and And trades.

Her determination to work hard since her move to Australia has since seen her work featured in several local and international USA magazines. Dellavalle has worked on international celebrities and has been mentored by some of the best stylist in the world like Beyoncé’s Hair stylist Kim Kimble. She has met one of her biggest inspirations Oprah Winfrey and continues to advocate hairstylists to operate with kindness & compassion. As a master for all ethnicities of hair, Joan designed and launched their line of hair extensions called Ebony and Ivory in 2005 to suit every type of hair. Here aim was to make women of all origins feel like a million dollars when wearing her hair extensions. As a result, these hair extensions have been seen on various celebrities used on movie sets and much more . Although the last 10 years have seen hard times, Dellavalle believes Ebony & Ivory has accomplished many goals by providing hair and beauty services for all hair types and all skin tones while empowering many women and men within the community. She is a true testament that when you work for dreams they do come true.

Dellavalle believes in giving back to the community and helping people find a purpose in their life. Her life skills programs have been running since 2009 helping non-for profit organisations, individuals in need and various programs that are making a difference in the community. She gives back to the community through mentoring and inspiring young girls in any small way to inspire them to follow their dreams and create the life they desire. Her recent projects also include as a sponsor of Australia galaxy pageants, one of their judges, has supported Miss Naidocperth , Miss Kimberley Girl and sponsored Elisama orphanage in Bali paying school fees for 85 kids, supports and many other chrities.
