Jacqueline O’Donovan, born at St Mary’s hospital Paddington in the city of London, is one of the most influential women in business whom you will ever meet. As Managing Director of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, Jacqueline is one of the waste, logistics, and construction sectors’ most passionate pioneers of employee training, industry best practice and the safety of all road users. When Jacqueline’s father passed away suddenly, the then 17 year Jacqueline was thrust into a family business that she neither fully understood nor was qualified to work in. She was a teenager and a woman, not your average construction executive. Undaunted Jacqueline started to learn the ropes, and with the support of her family and employees, her flair for leadership came to the fore and she gradually made her mark on the business. Under her leadership, the family-run waste management business has gone from strength to strength with eye watering increased turnover statistics.. Jacqueline has been the driving force behind O’Donovan being one of the first construction firms to become a CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety) champion, O’Donovan has also achieved the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Gold accreditation for the fifth consecutive year, and Jacqueline’s achievements and industry status have earned her a place on the FORS Board of Governance. She has also joined the board of SECBE – a regional centre for Constructing Excellence – a trusted and critical partner to UK Government, a member led organisation operating for the good of industry and its stakeholders. Today the family owned and run O’Donovan Waste Disposal is one of London’s leading independent waste management companies, with more than 160 employees and a £19 million plus turnover. It specialises in skip hire, waste management, tipper and grab lorry services, recycled aggregates, road sweepers and demolition services. Pioneering sustainability, Jacqueline is recognised as one of the industry’s environmental champions who has been the driving force behind the numerous awards it has received. O’Donovan is proud to say that they are 100% diverted from Landfill representing its commitment to a sustainable construction industry.. Jacqueline herself is recognised as a turbo charged leader in the industry, including recently being awarded the prestigious Woman of The Year Award in Birmingham on 7 October 2016. Other accolades include: Outstanding Woman in Construction 2016, the Institute of Directors’ Family Business Director of the Year, Constructing Excellence Achiever of the year and the wining the innovation award presented by British and Irish trade Alliance. Jacqueline has achieved fellowship status at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and is a chartered waste manager of the CIWM. The waste and resource management industry demands the highest levels of professionalism and excellence and being a chartered waste manager indicates Jacqueline’s commitment to these ideals.
