Director, Carnevali Foundation

India

As Director of the Carnevali Foundation, I promote and support educational programs in the slums of Hyderabad, India. Starting in 2004, we received NGO status in 2008. Currently we are educating 2000 children in government primary and high schools. We sponsor capable students, our “Rising Stars,” to achieve a university diploma. Our group called “Inspiring Young Professionals” is made up of university graduates who are working as engineers in top companies. Our philosophy is to work with the neediest children and provide them with life changing opportunities. Our schools boast libraries, clean water systems, English teachers and annual celebrations for academic attendance. We also fund early childhood programs and an orphanage for girls, who operate within our geographical region. Our goal is to build a Foundation that will sustain into the future, by mentoring our grads to some day run the organization.
After 30 years in public education in USA, I now work directly with students, teachers and headmasters in India. As a graduate of Wheelock College, Cambridge College and the Harvard School of Education, I focus on how to sustain a strong program in coordination with the Hyderabad Education Department.
