Dr. Zuleika Homavazir

Head of Department of Management Studies, Wilson College

India

An eminent Professional, Educationist and Nationalist, Dr. Zuleika Homavazir has achieved a prominent position in society. Her rise to distinction can be attributed to her determination to ascend above all odds, her caliber, conviction and dedication.

Dr. Zuleika Homavazir is that lone standing soldier with gleaming armour, amongst the hordes of those already fallen and defeated, on days of reckoning. Few women have the spirit that Dr. Zuleika Homavazir has conjured, even as life dealt her the worst of providence.

She battled Cancer at the age of 26, survived ovarian carcinoma when her left ovary was amputated, underwent multiple cycles of chemotherapy and one of the few women Cancer Survivors in the world to give birth to a child with only one ovary, a struggle and triumph against all odds, with the grit to lead an independent life. The near fatal experience ensured her dedication to leave behind a better world by educating and sensitising the youth into becoming better human beings and contribute to a better society thus “H O P E” was born. With this motto in mind, she joined the education fraternity at the age of 26 and started a youth-oriented social movement called – H O P E – “Help Our People Elevate” to make a difference in the lives of the lesser privileged. Dr. Zuleika is the only Educationist who has bagged three national records – Limca Book of Records, India Book of Records and The Asia Book of Records for the Institution she serves through her social initiatives. For her initiatives, she has been honoured and felicitated by several Government Recognised Organisations in India and across the Globe.

Dr. Zuleika is amongst the first Educationist to implement Institutional Social Responsibility initiatives at Under- graduate level in the year 2008, which had been subsequently implemented by the UGC for all Institutions in the year 2015. Her belief lies in the fact that being educated and achieving a degree is not enough, the real goal of education is to develop the EQ alongwith IQ of the younger generation to help them differentiate between the right and the wrong. Unless this is implemented, nation building with a better human society is a distant dream.
