Dr. Sharmila

Dr. Sharmila is a social entrepreneur focused on healthcare skilling, leadership and management. She is the founder and managing director of SEHPL, a social enterprise focused on creating the next generation of healthcare professionals / leaders who can transform the way healthcare is delivered in India. SEHPL delivers industry ready Skills Training Programs to underprivileged first-generation learners and empowers them with gainful employment in the healthcare field. In addition, SEHPL also offers short term Global Learning Programs to privileged students to explore Global Classrooms without boundaries Dr. Sharmila’s is on a Million Smiles Journey through empowering Healthcare Professionals. The organisations supporting her journey include GE Healthcare, Healthcare Sector Skills Council, TATA Trust, University of Colorado, USA & lading medical universities in India to name a few.
Dr. Sharmila is also currently Advisor to University of Colorado’s International certification programs and their Alumni representative in India. She was previously Director Strategic Relations at Santosh University and Associate Director at National Jewish Health, USA. She was 1 of 13 women (the only one from India) who received the Heroine of Health Award at the 70th World Health Assembly, Geneva Switzerland for “Increasing the position of Women in Healthcare” in May 2017. A documentary on her work was directed by an Emmy Award Winning Director Lisa Russell which was premiered across the world in June 2017.
She was also awarded Scholarship by Stanford University for her outstanding contribution in Global Health at the first Women Leaders in Global Health Conference. Her other accolades include Special Recognition Award by the Female Leaders Academy for Medicine and
Entrepreneurship at Colombo, Sri Lanka. Healthcare Excellence Award by IIM- Lucknow & Med Achievers. TRP recognised Dr Sharmila as a Top Professional in Global Learning as quoted by leading media like ABC, Fox & NBC.
