Dr. Rolando A. Flores is Dean and Chief Administrative Officer in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at New Mexico State University. He holds a doctorate in Grain Science and Industry with specialization in international trade from Kansas State University, a master’s degree in agricultural engineering from Iowa State University and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Universidad de Costa Rica. Prior to coming to NMSU, Dr. Flores was Professor and Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology; and Director of The Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He also served as administration director for the National Production Bureau of Costa Rica. He is a Water for Food Institute Faculty Global Fellow, and member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Cereal Chemists International. Dr. Flores is the recipient of Stanley Watson Award of the American Association of Cereal Chemists International and the USDA-ARS National Technology Transfer Award. In April of this year, he received the Kansas State University Department of Grain Science and Industry’s Outstanding Alumni Award. This award recognizes Grain Science alumni who have made a significant positive contribution to the field of grain science.
