Dr. Prabhjot Kaur is a pioneer in the field of Architectural academics. She successfully became First Woman Architect of Punjab to acquire PhD in Architecture, The Doctoral dissertation on ‘A Study of Contemporary Architectural Practices in India’ submitted in 2005 at IIT Roorkee and Masters dissertation on ‘Architectural Education: A Futuristic approach towards 21st century’ submitted in 1999 at University of Roorkee, was considered pioneer work in this field by the Evaluators/Experts.
Four students have completed their PhDs and seven are ongoing. More than 30 research papers have been published in various journals in last decade.
She has been instrumental in getting the Deptt. of Architecture, Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda (GZS.CET, Bathinda) recognized by Council of Architecture (COA, New Delhi) in the year 1994.
Due to Passion for Books, she remained officer Incharge, Library for many years at CCA Chandigarh and GZS,CET, Bathinda.
During years of Active Professional practice, designed many Educational, Industrial and Religious Buildings. Sri Guru Harkrishan Public school at Chandigarh and Ludhiana, Guru Nanak School at Naya Nangal, Mata Sahib Kaur Girls college and Hostel at Talwandi Sabo, and Gurdwaras at NFL township at Bathinda, Suratgarh, Gidarbaha, are some of them and contribution is also there in the Gurdwaras of Sector-8D, 11A, 20C, in Chandigarh and Gurdwara Sacha Dhan Phase 3B2. Mohali, Few Factories at Derabassi and Ludhiana and Many residences in and around Chandigarh are also designed during these years.
Awards and Honors:
She has been awarded merit certificate by District Administrations of Bathinda and Muktsar for contribution in Architectural Design and Models preparation for Red cross buildings and Red cross fares in 1995 and 1999. She was also honored by SGPC for my inputs in Architectural design and Models preparation of its institute ‘Mata Sahib Kaur Girls college and Hostel’ at Talwandi Sabo in 1996.
