She is a renowned Physician, Women’s Health Activist, an entrepreneur (IIM-B Alumini), Enviornmental Activist and the Founder Trustee of “Osteoporosis Foundation, India” and Co Founder “The Green Foundation India”. Behind the Professional front lies a soft hearted woman, who believes in traditional family values and wisdom and has successfully managed to strike a peaceful balance between professional and personal facets of life accommodating modern day demands.
Dr. Shankar received her postgraduate residency graduate training at DVAMC – UCLA ( Division of Veteran Affairs, University of California Los Angeles, USA) where she also served as a Chief Resident in her final year of training. She has had extensive training in her specialty from various prestigious institutions like UCLA, Cedars Sinai, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, King Drew University, University of Texas, Harvard Medical School, etc. Her experience has enabled the integration of most appropriate protocol selection while performing sophisticated radioactive injection procedures. She is reputed for her high standards of technical skills and for her professional style of working as a team member with physician throughout the community. She has now moved back to Bangalore, India her home town bringing with her over 20 years experience of clinical expertise.
Currently practicing Nuclear Medicine in Bangalore & is also actively involved in academic activities and several research projects As Head And Lead Consultant , Aster Hospitals Bangalore. As a Physician, She has always placed paramount importance on education and the continuous pursuit of excellence as the highest virtue. She has always followed her passions with an unerring and innate sense of direction beginning with her desire to practice evidence based medicine ( THERANOSTICS) both in the diagnostic and therapeutic arena of modern medicine (again as the first person to get a private license to use rubidium generator in the entire state of California) with a patient-friendly focus not just in philosophy but also in delivery of healthcare.
Women are the architects of the society and Dr.MS is a good example of one such. Despite her professional busy schedule as a Cancer specialist, She has been a Change Maker, Community Influence, Environmental Activist, Womens Health Activist, Aspee Award Winner, Author, Co -Founder of 2 NGOs.. Her Award winning Organic Garden “The Green Hub” nests the NGO “The Green Foundation India” through which changes are being propelled resetting the mindset of the community by positively influencing and building the community. They host a series of activities several of which are free to public (Calligraphy, Bhagavathageetha /Veda Classes, Yoga, Meditation). Regular Free Talks on creating Awareness, Educational workshops in Skill Building, Advocacy as a knowledge and venue partner to several renowned projects. Eg, Seed Ball Making ( FICCI FLO), Eco friendly Ganesha Making, Natural personal products (Kaustubam), Beewax candles ( Bee Trust) , Millet Baking ( Local Bakers), Chemical Free Soaps, Jeevambruta ( Composting workshops)etc which are structured according to the festive/cultural seasons. Firmly believes in Prevention is cure and U are what you eat . She has also structured the “Green Kitchen Masterclass” which is an educational hands-on workshop which was featured in better India for its goodwill content and educational health quotient which explains the hazards in the food industry and how one can remove harmful carcinogens cancer causing chemicals from ones diet. She has given numerous talks and chaired workshops throughout Bangalore on all of these topics.

In essence she is a lad doctor and champion advocating changes towards a ecofriendly, earth sensitive environmentally safe practices promoting happy holistic mindful living which a dire need of the hour in the urban society. Her Motto is “Reset the Mind Set” because the environment is not some thing the next generation inherits from us, but infact we have borrowed it from them.
