Dr Maitri Chand is a Marriage and Family Therapist delivering compassionate mental healthcare within her private clinic and researching upcoming psychological trends in urban Indian settings. She is committed to training and supervising young psychologists to ensure better availability of services to as many people as possible.
She holds a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Florida State University, USA, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Mercer University Medical School in Macon, Georgia, USA.
Her practice, research interests and publications over the last two decades have focused on the changing beliefs in urban India around the ideas of marriage and fathering. She is currently working on a project that studies the challenges and resiliencies of blended families or second marriages. She’s also an expert in post-adoption issues.
Her hope is to set up mental healthcare systems that are evidence based, culturally sensitive, ethical and adaptable to the needs of the populations they serve.
She currently works with individuals, couples, and families in New Delhi.
