Dr. Ashok Yende

Dr. Ashok Yende is presently working as the Professor Deptt of Law, University of Mumbai and I/c Director University Law Academy. Beginning his career as a Lecturer at the Post-graduate Department of Law, Nagpur University, he had served as the Dean & Director, Symbiosis Law College Pune, and headed leading law institutions in the country like K. C. Law College, Mumbai, New Law College, Ahmednagar, Raisoni Law School Nagpur, Balaji Law College Pune. An out-of-the-box thinker, he has more than 32 years of rich and extensive experience in administration and teaching.
Under his guidance seven students have been awarded Ph.D. degrees and some are pursuing. Adroit in teaching Law, he has participated in National and International conferences, and has 07 books and 45 publications to his credit. He was invited to participate in various international conferences including conferences organized by the United Nations. He worked as Member of the Selection Committee of UN-NGLS for the Stakeholder Selection Committee for the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on the New Urban Agenda and UN-Habitat held on 5-6th Sept 2017. Invited to UN conferences, Participated in IOCU World Consumer Congress, held at Montpellier (France). (25th – 31st September, 1994).Visited ILO (Switzerland), Geneva, Department of Law, Bristol University (U.K), Friedrich Ebert Siftung, Bonn (Germany). (Oct. 94). Visited National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law, as a part of Exchange Programme with Raisoni Law School, Nagpur (17thMarch, 2010). As a Monitor of ILO-IPEC Programme, (International Programme on Eradication of Child Labour)sponsored by International Labour Organisation.(1995-96). During his visit to London (U.K.), Paris (France), Geneva (Switzerland), Bonn (Germany) and Singapore, he interacted with eminent personalities. He has been conferred membership by leading institutions in the country, including associate membership of American Bar Association, Washington, life membership Indian Law Institute, New Delhi etc.
He was member of the Governing Council of Government law college, Mumbai, I/C Professor Chief Justice M.C. Chagla Chair on “Human Rights”. He is instrumental in establishing university law academy, and many innovative projects during his tenure as Head of the Department, including guest lectures of Chief Justice of India, Judges of Supreme Court, High Court, judges of foreign countries, eminent personalities. He has represented various University committees, Maharashtra State Consumer Council, participated in the process of drafting and revising syllabus of law courses. He is Founder President of Citizens Forum for Change, and Global Vision India Foundation, consultative status with United Nations. He has organised various community services, led public movement and successfully filed public interest litigations before courts for protection of rights of citizens. He was felicitated by eminent personalities including shri Annasaheb Hazare for his social work. He is a man of vision, innovation and social change.
