Dr. Anjali Borhade is widely renowned on global canvas in the sector of ‘Low skilled Labour migration, health and development’. She is pioneer public health professional, with special expertise and passion on urbanisation, migration, urban health and development issues. She holds double master’s degrees in social sciences, labour welfare and public health. She has received DPhil research degree in Population health from University of Oxford, UK. She is founder Director of the pioneering NGO ‘Disha Foundation’ that supports migrant worker’s rights and sustainable development in India. She believes labour migration is inevitable and should be supported to make it safer and productive. In last eighteen years she has worn hats of practitioner, academician and advocate for migrants rights. She is actively engaged in various qualitative and quantitative research studies, complex social and health interventions, and evidence based high-level advocacy initiatives with state and federal government and UN agencies to ensure the rights of vulnerable migrant populations. She is appointed as technical advisor with few state and federal government offices in India. She has published several articles on migrant rights and policy recommendations. Recently, she has served World Health Organization as an expert advisor for creating strategy and action plan on health and social security of migrants and refugees at Global level as well for 11 countries of South East Asian region. She is heading two social business ventures – ‘NONCO’ is one of the first start-up of India which delivers cancer prevention services at the doorstep for the two biggest cancers of women- breast and cervical. Second business is focussed on providing financial, livelihood, health and legal support services to low skilled migrant workers in India and similar low-middle income countries.
