Egyptian women have always played a significant role in the history of their country, Dr. Ahlam has been one of those women, where her beliefs are to assure, protect, advocate for equal rights of men and women, and sustain adequate standards of living for the health and well-being of Egyptian citizens.
Dr. Ahlam Hanfy has more than forty years of professional experience in management, strategic planning, crisis management on the national and International level with focus on diversified sectors in health, pharmaceutical, women’s empowerment and gender issues. This is in addition to her efforts in raising the preventive awareness of the diseases and the importance of early detection of breast cancer and HIV virus as well. Since her graduation from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, her wide and in depth studies in health environment, development, total quality management, etc.., her studies and experience qualified to be an Advisor at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Cairo, Egypt. She is also an active member the Egyptian Red Crescent working to achieve the ultimate goal of alleviating humanitarian sufferings especially for those in crisis. She is also a consultant for Pharmaceutical, Vaccine, and Serum, Volunteer RC Psycho-Social Support for Disasters relief; Gender mainstreaming, domestic violence and women’ rights. She is an active member in the UN Women Peace Middle East, The National Council for Women. She was awarded as the best eight nationwide women for her enormous efforts in fighting domestic violence against women, raising awareness of women to stand for her rights, development of women enterprises, microfinance for raising income of poor, and marginalized women in rural and urban areas. Dr. Ahlam has been selected by the president for consecutive terms as a member in the board of the National Council for Women. Currently she is the Rapporteur of the Health and Population Committee in the National Council for Women and which is in charge of drawing policies for women empowerment in the field of health and population policies.
