Deepa Rafeeque is the co-founder of VLegal, a legal consultancy firm providing solutions to the legal issue and impart training for corporates on legal topics.
VLegal is a “Resource Institution” for imparting training under The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act,2013 as notified by Ministry of Woman & Child Development, Government of India.
Deepa, Corporate Legal Trainer, believes in sharing of expertise knowledge through trainings to achieve excellence and competence. Deepa’s exceptional analytical skills influence the participants immensely. Her active listening helps participants to articulate the issues holistically.
Having spent more than three decades in legal management and vigilance cell of PSUs and the interface had with the legal luminaries, she has earned vast experience. This enables her to empathies the problems of participants and to advise them appropriately during the sessions.
The training sessions conducted with Indian Aviation Academy, New Delhi, iSkillBox Learning Technology Pvt. Ltd. Pune, Antwalk, Bangalore and with several Corporates, Deepa has achieved mastery of the legal training. Her core expertise is in Law relating to Women & Children, Contract drafting & Management, Disciplinary Proceedings/Departmental Inquiry, Employee and Labour Laws, Aviation Law and Arbitration.
She is an external member on POSH committee with various companies.
Deepa believes that enacting various laws will not eliminate the social crimes like sexual harassment against the women and children. The Laws should be instilled to the people deeply. People should be aware of the consequences of their action. They should be told about the boundary line. Spreading the awareness is the only solution to fix it. For creating awareness, we should have the well-informed trainers. Therefore, Deepa has begun her journey with her signature programs – “Be a POSH Enabler: Train the Trainer – POSH” and “Be a POCSO Torchbearer-Train the Trainer – POCSO”. While looking back, VLEGAL has around 350 trained trainers in its network.
This trainer community is actively working with Corporates, Educational Institutes and with different sectors in the society to spread awareness for protection of Women & Children from sexual harassment/offences.
Deepa is also Heading the WICCI Karnataka Anti-Sexual Harassment Council as State President for past one year. The platform has given her an opportunity to reach out to unorganized sector as well, where the awareness is almost Nil. She, with her team have taken up various programs for Women & Children to make them aware about their legal Rights, the authorities to approach and tried to gave them courage to speak against violence.
Apart from above, she is also attached with Karnataka Judicial Academy, Bengaluru to provide the insight trainings for Leadership, Communication skills, Conflict Management, Team Building etc. She is also a certified trainer from Indian Academy of Training & Development, Chennai.
Deepa has Authored a book on POSH Law titled “Prevention of Sexual
Harassment of Women at Workplace – Law & Practice”.
Deepa’s unique approach of analyzing the case studies and the law involved makes the sessions interactive and live. Her ultimate aim is to “simplify the law” and its solutions.
